Art Show Supports the Artman Benevolent Care Fund

Posted on May 15, 2012 by Liberty Lutheran

Many community members in the Ambler area spent mother’s day weekend enjoying art at the annual Art Show and Sale at Artman. A variety of paintings, jewelry and other unique works of art from local artists were for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Artman Benevolent Care Fund. The Benevolent Care Fund allows residents who have depleted their assets to continue to receive quality, compassionate care at Artman.

Judith Greenleaf Finore, who has been exhibiting at the Art Show for six years, was thrilled when she was asked to be one of this year’s featured artists. “It’s a real honor,” she said. “It’s a really wonderful thing, and it feels good to be recognized by your peers.”

Judith, who has been a professional artist for about 12 years, says that the Art Show at Artman is her favorite local art show. “They do a marvelous job here, they pull in good artists and they run it very well,” she said. “And the benevolent care fund is a great cause. Even if I wasn’t exhibiting here I could come to support it.”

Donna Wolfert, who was been selling her handmade jewelry at the Art Show for about five years, agrees. “The show invites the community to come look at local art, and invites local artists to promote themselves to the community. And it’s for a great cause, that’s the most important part,” she said.

Ron Durr, who has lived in Ambler for 22 years, brings a unique aspect of art to the show with his wood turnings, including vases, bowls, salt and pepper shakers, ornaments, jewelry, all made from natural wood that he finds locally. “The best part about this show is the people that I meet,” he said. “I enjoy discussing the different aspects of art with people.”

Friday evening the community enjoyed an opening night party with wine and hors D’oeuvres, entertainment, and opportunities to meet the artists.
