Lutheran Disaster Response Volunteers Honored at Volunteer Recognition Ceremony

Individuals who volunteer with Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR) through Lutheran Congregational Services, a ministry of Liberty Lutheran, were recognized by the city of Philadelphia at a Volunteer Recognition Ceremony at the Fairmount Waterworks. Samantha Phillips, the Acting Deputy Managing Director for Emergency Management, presented a Mayor’s Proclamation to Julia Menzo, Volunteer Engagement Coordinator and Disaster Response Co-Coordinator for Liberty Lutheran. Julia is the President of Southeastern Pennsylvania Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (SEPA VOAD).

Congratulations to our “Biggest Loser” Winners

In January, Liberty Lutheran announced an organization wide “Biggest Loser” challenge, to see which employee could lose the highest percentage of his or her weight. Twelve weeks later, Nick Weber, the winner of the challenge, is proud to say that he has lost 48 pounds… and counting!

Family Reunification Excels in Recent DHS Survey

Lutheran Children and Family Service’s (LCFS) Family Reunification program was very successful in their recent annual survey by the Department of Human Services (DHS). They scored a 99 percent in safety standards, and a 95 percent in non-safety standards. These numbers are well above the minimum thresholds of 80 percent for safety, and 70 percent for non-safety. Employees Benefit from Liberty Wellness Works Healthy Incentive Program

At Liberty Lutheran, the health and wellness of our residents, clients and staff is always a priority. Liberty Wellness Works (LWW) provides employees with numerous opportunities to improve both their physical and emotional health. In October, LWW introduced a “healthy incentive” program that rewards employees who complete a health risk assessment, develop an individual wellness plan with a wellness coach, demonstrate proof of an annual physical and participate in at least two wellness challenges, offered by LWW.

Paul’s Run Dedicates Shabbat Service to Golden Slipper Camp

On Friday, March 23, Jewish residents at Paul’s Run Retirement Community, in Northeast Philadelphia, attended a special Shabbat service that was dedicated to the generosity of the Golden Slipper Camp, of Bala Cynwyd, for loaning their Sefer Torah for the winter months, while a permanent Torah was acquired.
